about me I am a freelance illustrator. My work revolves around an interest in peripheral or marginalised characters and stories; things which exist on the fringes - rather than the centre - of society. I am inspired by maps, illuminated manuscripts, posters, birds, myths and fairy tales, old photographs and circuses. My drawings are hand-rendered, using a collection of media including biros, rubber stamps and crayons. I often build up many layers within a drawing, using wax resist techniques and coloured pencil to give the image a translucent appearance.
I produce work for all kinds of commissions, both private and commercial. Clients include Canon, The British Medical Journal, Creative Partnerships, The Royal Court Theatre, British Airways, Random House and Waterstone's. I also create bespoke hand-drawn murals, working with the client to produce unique artworks which may be to a specific brief, or simply in response to an idea.
I am represented by Private View Illustration.
